Today marks a new chapter in my life. I am starting a new career in a field I love and about which I am passionate. Over the last few months, many people have suggested that I look for a ‘job’ and have their own perceptions about what I am doing with my time. The thing is this – I no longer wanted to have a ‘job’. I wanted a ‘career’, one that aligns with my passions, visions and dreams. To some, it may have taken longer than anticipated; to me everything was exactly as it should have been.
I have spent the last few months rediscovering parts of myself that have been locked away for many years. As we become adults, we may forget about the things that truly bring us happiness in exchange for the pursuit of titles and money. I have been guilty of this myself as many of my years had been devoted to accumulating money while putting my dreams on hold. I now realize the problem was that I was chasing the wrong kind of wealth. I was chasing money and possessions as this is what I thought society envisioned as necessary for a happy life. As I’ve grown older and wiser, I have realized that I had it backwards.
I now have a greater understanding about the person I want to become and my new career will help me on this journey. I will have the opportunity to guide and inspire people and that is what truly motivates me. It’s amazing how things work out if you have patience, a positive mindset and resolve. I did not accept a job that would not allow me to become the strongest version of myself or help me to achieve my goals. I waited for the right opportunity and I couldn’t be happier. To be able to drive to work with a smile on your face and know that you can make a difference in people’s lives is deeply gratifying.
Too often you see people who are depressed about their work situation and, yet, they fear change because of the benefits or money they are receiving. This describes me a few years ago. However, I came to the realization that for me to live a fulfilling life, I would need to make some major changes, listen to my inner self and follow my dreams. I am now embarking on a journey that I have envisioned for myself and, for that, I feel truly successful. I will be able to exemplify the passion and motivation that I possess and I am committed to making a difference in people’s lives.
I am not saying that you don’t need money but I am very confident that, if you choose a profession that you love, you will be rewarded with many kinds of wealth, including financial wealth. Pursuing a career in a field that you enjoy and take pride in will result in your best efforts and that will lead to advancement and prosperity. The upcoming months will be very exciting as I will begin to utilize the skills and knowledge I have gained over the last couple of years. I have taken it upon myself to seek personal growth and development; this self-education will help me to become my greatest self as well as those I encounter in this tremendous opportunity.
I admire people who follow their hearts and lead a life true to themselves. Now that I am on this path myself, I understand the judgment that they sometimes face from their peers and society. To be the CEO of your own life takes a lot of fearlessness. I strongly encourage and promote people to discover their passion, find what truly motivates and inspires them and do something in that field. When you love what you do, it will feel like you never have to work a day in your life. Forget about the title and money, chase your dreams and you will live a life of abundance and richness. When you are in the later stages of your life, you will reflect and be happy that you took control of your life and lived it on your own terms. It will not be easy and there will be challenges, but it will absolutely be worth it. What will hurt more, the pain of regret or the pain of hard work? When I have kids, I want them to look at me and feel like they can become anything they want. I want to be the example for them, the shining light in a society that often overlooks courage and audacity.
I am writing this with a smile on my face. I am so grateful to be given this chance to demonstrate my capabilities in a field in which I have a personal connection. This new beginning is also going to help me with my greater goals and ambitions. I am working on a couple of side projects that share the same values and beliefs. To tie them together is going to help me give life to them. I am the CEO of my life and I want you to be the CEO of yours.
